Betty has taught kindergarten through second grade for 18 years. The majority of those years were spent as a first-grade teacher. earned a master's of education (in reading) from West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in 2006 and has been the reading intervention specialist for the Hereford, Texas, School District for the past two years. Currently, she is working on a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a focus on language and literacy at Texas Tech University.
